From the Author...

Did you know that all cameras require manual intervention sometimes, no matter how high-end they are and how great their automatic sensors are?

This second part of my eBook series helps you understand the automatic settings on your camera and where they fall short. We look at both automatic and manual settings for white balance, aperture, depth of field, shutter speed, ISO, built-in flash, and metering in various lighting conditions.

This book is not intended to replace your camera manual, but instead to augment it; to make sense of when you would want to use each setting. It explains the situations where you need to override your automatic settings, and helps you to understand what to do to achieve perfect exposure. By running through assignments, you'll learn what gives photos an ugly blue sheen, and which white balance mode to use to enhance sunsets. Get practice using your camera in automatic mode and in partial-manual mode by following along.

You see, rather than tell you that every camera is bad in certain lighting situations, I try to lead you into investigation where your particular camera suffers from bad sensor algorithms. That way, when you upgrade your camera in later years, the same information is still relevant, and you can discover all over again where you need to override your camera's suggestions.

Once you're armed with an understanding of how aperture / white balance / ISO / etc work, you'll have to confidence to make manual adjustments to its recommended settings. You'll have the ability to recognize the reason for bad photos, and will be able to correct - if not prevent - the problem immediately!

That's right! This ebook is intended to guide amateur photographers through basic camera settings and how to get the most out of each from your particular camera. I will explain the basic camera settings in plain words so that you understand the situations where automatic settings may fail.

Keep this guide!

Since the information in this guide is independent of camera type or size, the information is timeless! This ebook gives you the knowledge and direction to figure out where your camera needs manual intervention for proper exposure. It helps you summarize your own observations through seven assignment to drive the information home.
